Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Randall Ryan Holcomb was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Randy will be remembered as a very exceptional person. Randy’s life journey began on March 1, 1957. He first greeted the world in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His parents' names were Bill and Jo Holcomb. He lived in Oklahoma City until moving to Stillwater with the assistance of the Gatesway Foundation achieving various forms of living and employment. In May of 2010 he returned to Oklahoma City. Growing up for Randy was an involving experience. It allowed him to learn and grow and create all kinds of memories. With the help of many, Randy was able to live an independent life for much of the 34 years after his accident. Several people in Stillwater knew Randy because he liked to use his scooter chair to go downtown and visit the music shop, Walgreens, Grocery Store, Pawn Shop and Central Pharmacy. He wanted to handle as much of his care as possible by himself. Many other people were involved in providing Randy with the assistance he needed. Those include home care providers, public transportation, Meals on Wheels, Sheltered Workshop, friends, relatives and Stillwater emergency services. Randy had no problem calling 911 when he needed help. He was raised with three siblings. Randy had two brothers, Alan Holcomb, Billy Dale Holcomb and one sister Nancy Wood. Randy loved spending holidays with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Jo Holcomb and one brother Billy Dale Holcomb. Randy is survived by his brother Alan Holcomb and his sister Nancy Wood as well as many other relatives and friends. Randy was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being passionate for the various interest he had. Randy leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Randall Ryan Holcomb touched will always remember him with a smile.
The family wishes that memorials be given to a local Meals on Wheels or Sheltered Workshops for making it possible for Randy and those like him to be independent.
