She attended Ada Schools along with Clarence Parker who became her Junior High School sweetheart and eventually her husband.
Upon graduating from Ada High School, she attended Bethany Nazarene College.
On June 9, 1950, Peggy and Clarence were married in Ada, Oklahoma.
Peggy worked at the University of Oklahoma Admissions and Records while her husband, Clarence pursued his doctorate at the same university.
A few years later, they moved to Derby, Kansas, where Clarence took his first pastorate and started a new Church of the Nazarene. Peggy enjoyed playing the piano in church, although she faced many challenges from a stroke that left her right arm paralyzed. One such challenge was learning to play the piano with one hand. She mastered that and made it look easy. She adjusted to doing everything left handed, including writing and caring for her newborn son.
In her last years she would face new challenges, but always with a great attitude.
Peggy and Clarence liked taking road trips. Some were out of state, but most were in Oklahoma where they could visit the various state parks and stay nights in the cabins and lodges, sometimes with their grandchildren.
Peggy had her own library of books and loved reading.
She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother (GEE), and great grandmother.
As a longtime member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in OKC, she formed good friendships in her Sunday School class there.
We will greatly miss her sweet spirit and her contagious, spontaneous laughter.
She did love to laugh!
