Patricia (Pattie) was born on January 6, 1954 in Minnie, Kentucky to Fred Shelton Jr. and Josephine Sizemore Owsley. She has three sisters: Regina Renee Salisbury, Elizabeth Ann Martin, and Wanda Lea Shelton.
Upon graduating high school, Pattie served in the United States Army from 1971-1975 and worked as an Operating Room Technician where she met her husband Kenneth Ross Couch. The two were married on December 20, 1974 and raised four children together, Kenneth William Couch, Michael James Couch, Richard Scott Couch, and Trina Corinne Couch.
With a passion for volunteering, Pattie served as the volunteer supervisor for the Army Community Service for over ten years specializing in child abuse and neglect. Among one of her greatest achievements was the organization and establishment of an Army Community Service Center with a day care center. These efforts awarded her with multiple awards from the Army including Volunteer of the Year and the Meritorious Service Award in 1985.
Pattie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1987 and later pursued her Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1997. With her education, Pattie thrived as a Social Worker and continued on to complete several internships including working with the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in Oklahoma City. Pattie was a true scholar.
Pattie loved antiques, reading, traveling and spending many early mornings at the local farmer’s market gathering her favorite fresh vegetables. She loved to cook for her family and friends and did so with the most delicious meals – famous for her homemade potato soup!
Pattie and Ross went on to have ten beautiful grandchildren: Hannah, Lauren, Aaron, Caleb, Katelyn, Cassandra, Jessica, Emily, Gabe, Nate and one great-grandchild, Luna.
Pattie is survived by her father, Fred Shelton and mother, Josephine Owsley, husband, Ross Couch, children, Ken, Mike, Scott and Trina as well as her sisters, Renee, Liz, and Wanda.
No services will be held for Pattie as it was her wish to be cremated and later buried in Brigham City, Utah with her husband upon his passing.
