It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Patricia Ann Fuchtman Brantley, age 80, on April 24, 2024. Although we mourn her loss, we know she is whole and joyous in her eternal home of glory, reunited with her parents, Arthur and Mildred Fuchtman, and other family and friends.
Born on October 3, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Patricia was the eldest of three children. Throughout her early years, she developed a passion for helping others and subsequently chose a career in nursing that spanned close to 50 years. After graduating from Mercy in Oklahoma City in 1965, she worked hard to become the Director of Surgery at Bone & Joint Hospital, a role she served in until her retirement in 2005. In 1980, she was named the Orthopedic Nurse’s Association National Nurse of the year and wrote a nurse’s operating guidebook that same year. She accomplished all this while raising two sons as a single mother, guiding them to be the successful, independent, and loving sons and fathers they are today.
In addition to her passion for nursing, she was a skilled quilt designer and maker, going on annual quilt retreats and quilt-making cruises. Her quilts are cherished heirlooms to remind us of her love and passion. She also loved scrapbooking, needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, and stamping. On any holiday or special occasion, you could always count on a lovingly handmade card and envelope. Perhaps her greatest joy, however, was taking her family on regular cruises to the Caribbean.
Every Thanksgiving, Pat spent countless hours making large bags of her coveted Chex Mix, which she distributed to the entire family and many friends. This was a highlight of the holiday season for all who knew her. There was only one year she was unable to make the mix and her nephew started a Facebook page named “Bring Back the Chex Mix” that the family still talks about today.
Our beautiful Patricia Ann is survived by her 2 sons, Brad and Brett Brantley, 2 daughters-in-law, Kelli Brantley and Christin McLeod, 3 grandchildren, Ryan Brantley (Elly), Lindsay Brantley, Bailey Brantley (EJ), 2 great grandchildren, Haisley and Maize, sister Cathy Polony, brother Michael Fuchtman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 10:00 AM at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3214 N Lake Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73118. A celebration of life will be hosted by the family at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper (6600 Broadway Extension) on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM.
