Oscar E. Cardin Jr., our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away from this life on February 5, 2017 to be with his Lord and Savior after 78 years of a life well lived. Oscar was born on November 7, 1938 in Muldrow, OK to Oscar E. Cardin Sr. and Lillie (Smith) Cardin. He was the oldest of 8 children. Oscar was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City. He married Wanda Jean Howe on February 18, 1961 in Stilwell, OK. In 1961, Oscar joined the United States Army, making this his career until retirement. During this time, he received numerous medals and awards. After combining his career in the U.S. Army and civil service, Oscar retired in 1998. Water skiing was one of his passions. He was an excellent skier and even looked like a pro when using his slalom and trick skis. He went on to teach his children and their friends how to ski. Oscar’s motto was “If you ain’t pulling a skier, you’re wasting gas!” He also loved to tinker with old cars whether it was buying, restoring, or reselling them. Animals were also another love of Oscar’s. At one time, he had 5 acres full of pets including horses, a donkey, goats, sheep, a llama, chickens, ducks, cats, kittens, and dogs.
