Olive Couch Johns was born on November 27, 1909 in Luther, OK to A.C. and Inez Fall Couch. She was the granddaughter of Capt. William L. Couch, who was the captain of the Boomers, responsible for getting unassigned land of Indian Territory opened for settlement and who was the first Mayor of Oklahoma City. She attended and finished High School in Luther, OK and later attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma City. She was the widow of Everett Johns who died on December 26, 1987. They were married 47 years. She was a member of Northwest Christian Church and she owned and successfully raced Thoroughbred horses in the late 50’s and early 60’s. She attended races daily at Remington Park where she was known as the “Godmother” of the Silks Restaurant. She was a member of Oklahoma Ornithological Society, National Audubon Society, and local Audubon, loving and feeding the wild birds daily. She loved animals and was an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William A. Couch and Howard F. Couch; and one nephew, Richard D. Couch. She leaves one nephew, Gordon A. Couch and his wife Louise of Luther, OK; two nieces, Mary Lou Furman of Oklahoma City, OK and Ramah Winter of Brenham, TX; along with many other great and great great nieces and nephews
