Norma Jean Strickland

Born March 11, 1932, in Peabody, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late John Daniel Wehry and Elsie Marie Wehry.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert (Bob) Strickland, brother Raymond Wehry & wife Carol, Arizona, two children daughter Jan Marie Birks and husband Gary, son Greg Strickland and wife Jean, six grandchildren Grace Strickland Averitt, A Shelby Powers, Holly Strickland, Joy Strickland Bugg, Chloe Strickland, Sophia Marie Birks and Great Granddaughter Frances Averitt. Also her best friend of over 80 years Betty Lou Browning.

She was a 1950 graduate of Capitol Hill High School, a lifelong member of South Minster Presbyterian Church and a fabulous supporter of all sports her treasured grandchildren participated in.

A celebration of life and joy will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Saturday, April 13 at 2:00pm with refreshments to follow at Jan’s house in Norman. Please wear your most festive colorful attire to celebrate Norma’s life! In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Norman Meals on Wheels in honor of Norma and her beloved mother Elsie Wehry!
