

Mildred (Gould) Wild was born May 3, 1917 to Lloyd F. and May (Griggs) Gould in Carter, Ok. Mildred started to school at the age of four in a class with her older brother George. Mildred and George attended schools in Elk City, Ok, Frederick, Ok. and Hollis, Ok. In 1933 they graduated from Hollis High School. Mildred attended school at Cameron College in Lawton, Ok. for two years, then was employed as a court reporter, where she worked for three years. During this time she met and married Dean Wild, then assistant football coach at Hollis High School. Dean and Mildred were married for 69 years when Dean passed away on January 10, 2008.
During World War II, Mildred worked for the Federal Government at the construction sight of a 100 Octane Gasoline Refinery, while Dean was stationed at Ellington Field, Houston, Tx. After the war, Dean attended the University of Houston and Mildred worked in the office of Dean’s brother, Dr. W.B. Wild, who had a large industrial practice. In 1947, they moved to Watonga, Ok., where Dean was the Athletic Coach at the high school and Mildred worked as the Financial Secretary for the school system.
In 1950, while living in Watonga, Dean and Mildred adopted their son, Timothy Dean Wild and in 1953, they adopted his sister, Sally Wild Morrison. After eight years in Watonga, the family moved to Frederick, Ok. Tim and Sally started to school and Mildred worked for the Selective Service System. In 1965, the family moved to Oklahoma City, Ok. Dean later became Assistant Principal at the new Putnam City West High School and Mildred worked at the FAA Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. She retired in 1980 and since that time has donated over 4,000 hours of service with the Third Age Life Center at Integris Baptist Hospital. In November 2008, Mildred moved to a retirement home in Edmond, Ok., to be near her son and his family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years, Dean Wild, sister Blanche Erwin and two brothers, George and Louis Gould.
She is survived by her son, Tim and his wife, Debbie of Edmond, her daughter, Sally Morrison, of Baytown, TX, four grandchildren, Chris Morrison, of Spring, TX, Gary Wild, Bethany, Ok, Brian Smyth, Edmond, Ok, Monica Raymond, Baytown, TX, and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 12, at the Guardian West Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Resurrection Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City.
There will be a visitation for Mildred on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Family will greet guests at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Hospice of Oklahoma County, 4334 N.W. Expressway, Suite 106, Oklahoma City, Ok. 73116 or to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, more specifically Melanoma Cancer, 825 N.E. 13th Street Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104 .
