Mickey Diane Melton died peacefully on January 6, 2015 at home in Oklahoma City. Born December 7, 1947 in Oklahoma City, she was the daughter of Jack Owen Canon and Bobbie Jean Canon. Mickey graduated from Northwest Classen High School before attending Blackwood Business College. She worked at various state agencies for 22 years, beginning with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, Oklahoma School Land Commission, and retiring from Oklahoma State Employees Group Insurance Board.
Family and travel were Mickey's passion and delight. She was an avid snow skier and enjoyed family ski trips to Colorado and New Mexico, as well as trips to Europe and frequent visits to the Nevada desert and New York City.
Mickey is survived by her husband of 39 years, Mike Melton; daughter Michelle Melton and husband Matthew Chiavelli; brother Steve Canon and wife Debi; nephews Chad and Eric Canon and their spouses Brandy and Loretta; and a number of other relatives and dear friends.
There will be a funeral service for family and friends 2 p.m. on Friday, January 9 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. Interment will be in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, Oklahoma City, OK.
