Michael Richard Johnson passed from this life on October 13, 2018 in Oklahoma City. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 2:30pm at the Advantage Funeral Home Chapel located at 7720 S. Pennsylvania Ave in Oklahoma City.
Mike was born on Aug 2, 1957 in OKC to Jerry and Richard Johnson. He was raised on Banana Street behind NW Classen High School where he would go on to excel as the QB of the football team. In the early 1980’s he married Paula Rooker and relocated to Savanna, OK. Mike and Paula had three children: Ryan, Jennifer, and Kyle Johnson. Mike spent over a decade working in SE OK as a carpenter. He assisted in the building of several churches and important buildings that shape the skyline of McAlester and neighboring towns. He spent several years traveling the state installing traffic cameras, a job he enjoyed very much.
Mike was an easy going guy who was the life of any party. He was well known for his witty sense of humor and his terribly corny “dad jokes.” He would go out of his way to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. Mike enjoyed Fishing, golfing, Thunder basketball, and OU Football. Music was a big part of his life. He tried to learn to play the guitar, but soon realized (with the help of his family) that he was more talented playing his air guitar. He was just a big kid at heart and he’d do anything for those he loved. Mike Johnson was a loving son, a proud father, a protective brother, a caring grandpa, and a loyal friend and he will truly be missed by each person he knew and loved.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Richard Johnson; sister Donita Terry; and nephews: Jay Terry and Matthew Tarpley.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine “Jerry” Padberg of Oklahoma City; three children: Ryan Johnson and wife Rebecca , Jennifer Green and husband Stony, and Kyle Johnson all of McAlester, OK; Grandchildren: Foley Green, Jude Green, Vada Green, Cooper Johnson, Cutler Johnson, Coen Johnson and Kyce Johnson; siblings: Linda Johnson, Susan Johnson, and Tom Padberg and wife Laura and numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.
