Born in Oklahoma City on July 19, 1935, Mcus Duane Williams passed from this life on June 25, 2017 to join his wife Carolyn for the next step of their eternal life together. He is survived by seven children, Willie (Ann) Williams, Jo (Robert) Houston, Michelle Harlow, Donnie (Bev) Williams, Debbie (Mark) Hutchinson, Scooter (Lisa) Williams, and Missy (Clay) Byrne. “Duane” had 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He served this country for 21 years in the United States Navy. Upon retiring from the Navy he finished his degree work at the University of Oklahoma and worked 24 years for the State of Oklahoma Tax Commission. He was active as an official for football and softball at youth and high school levels. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan, holding season tickets since 1976, and instilled that passion throughout his large family. He was member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church and served in various capacities as a volunteer in that church community. He supported and worked diligently on Carolyn’s vision to create a shelter for homeless men in the Oklahoma City area. The Carolyn Williams Center is the fruit of those labors. Visitation will be held at Advantage Funeral Home, 7720 S. Pennsylvania on Friday from 9am to 8pm with the family greeting friends from 5pm-8pm Friday evening at the funeral home. The funeral will be Saturday, July 1 at 11am at Southern Hills United Methodist Church at 8200 Pennsylvania Ave., Oklahoma City. Interment will follow immediately at Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Carolyn Williams Center at 1416 NW 16th, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73106 through Neighborhood Services Organization (NSO) at nsookc.org or through Southern Hills United Methodist Church.
