Mary Ellen (Griffitts) Roberts

Mary Roberts aka Mom and Nanny, 78, passed away on November 10, 2022 in Norman, Oklahoma. After a 30 plus year marriage and mothering four children Mary’s most beloved role was the title of grandmother.

Born in Ventura, California, she was the daughter of Billie and Earl Griffitts. Mary graduated from South East Highschool. Mary held several jobs over the years but her career was wife/mother/nanny.

She is survived by one sister, three of her four children, a baker’s dozen of grandchildren, and several great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, and one son.

Survivors: Earlene Stephens and family-sister; Rebecca Roberts and family-daughter; Gary Roberts and family-son; Robby Roberts-deceased son with surviving family; James Roberts and family-son.

Mary’s top character traits that she will be remembered for are her Love, caring, tenderness, and sense of humor; Love of Thanksgiving and Christmas with the family. As an example, Mary is well known for being first to send her Christmas cards to her friends and family. She loved family functions, and the desserts she made for all of the family-IE-chocolate pie, chess pie, fudge, divinity, etc. (See the family for multiple stories of her desserts). Mary loved to travel and take vacations, cruises, bus tours, road trips, etc. The stories of the fun we had with Mom over the years was definitely an experience.

Mary may be deceased but the legendary stories will never die.

Pending inclement weather, the viewing will be held on Monday, November 14th from 5pm-7pm at the funeral home. A celebration of life Service will occur Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service-South Chapel.
