Martha was a class of ’55 graduate of Classen High School and earned degrees at the University of Oklahoma in Deaf Education. She taught at the Naval Station in China Lake, California, and in Oklahoma City. She loved her students and their families.
Martha was known for her hilarious sense of fun. She loved to be surrounded by family, friends and neighbors. She was usually involved in some kind of creative project, made quilts for many, baked amazing pies, mailed batches of cookies to people, and once sent a birthday cake all the way to Iraq. Martha enjoyed the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts and Lyric Theater of Oklahoma. Recently she was enjoying the songs of Dionne Warwick and Helen Reddy. She was known to break into song at any given moment. We especially liked when she did the opera voice and opera laugh.
She enjoyed travels with her husband Richard and loved his paintings from their trips. New Mexico and Colorado were favorite destinations.
Martha was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and choir, Alpha Chi Omega, and PEO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Richard H. Kamp.
She is survived by her children: Ellen Capalungan, husband Alan, of Charleston; Ted Kamp, wife Verity, of Los Angeles; and Greg Kamp, wife Cheryl, of Oklahoma City; as well as eight beloved grandchildren, and Mia the Chihuahua.
A memorial service to celebrate Martha’s life will be 2:00 pm, Friday, August 19, 2022 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 10100 Ridgeview Drive, The Village, OK 73120.
