Marcella Marie Armstrong, 87, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on August 17, 2024. Born on January 3, 1937, in Traverse City, Michigan. Marcella was a beloved teacher who dedicated 31 years to educating and inspiring students. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her love for children, making a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Marcella’s warmth extended beyond the classroom. After a brief stint working at Target, she found what was to be known as her chosen family, whom she cherished deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Button and Eva Fuller, her sisters, Imogene, Violet, Arlene, and her husband Elton.
Marcella is survived by her children Mary, Julie and Mark, also several nieces and nephews.
Her faith was central to her life, she was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and continued her service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City after relocating.
In addition to her community involvement Marcella enjoyed baking Christmas cookies and was an avid knitter and crocheter. Her love for her family and friends including her furry ones was evident in all she did, and she will be remembered fondly for her kindness and generosity.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Marcella’s life and contributions. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City, Immanuel Lutheran Church of Mount Pleasant Michigan, or Great Plains Mastiff Rescue of Oklahoma City.
