Loyd was born May 16, 1944 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Loyd Ira and Willie Mae (Davis) Spaugy. He attended OSU Okmulgee where he received his associate’s degree in diesel mechanics.
He met and married the love of his life and best friend, Betty June Davis on July 14, 1967.
Loyd worked as a truck driver and loved every minute on the road. He worked for International Paper and retired with 20 years of service. He then worked for Mohawk Materials and retired from there with 25 years of service. He was a member of the 50th Street Church of Christ.
Loyd will be remembered for his ornery personality and the kindness he showed to not only his family, but anyone he met. He adored his grandchildren and loved visiting with them and supporting them in all of their endeavors. He also had a great love for golfing and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Juanita Lockard.
Loyd is survived by his wife, Betty Spaugy; son, Loyd Leon Spaugy, Jr and wife Trina; daughter, Jennifer Thomas and husband Richard; grandchildren, Kodie Hill, Shelby Thomas, Sara Thomas, Brittany Spaugy, Kaila Spaugy, Loyd Leon Spaugy III, Cody Pybas, Sosha Pybas, and Davon Hill; great grandchildren, Lukas Hill, Stella Spaugy, Jacoby Hill, Hadley Pybas, and Elliott Pybas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Loyd’s name to the 50th Street Church of Christ.
Visitation will be 1p-5p Sunday at Guardian West Funeral Home.
Services will be 10am Monday at the 50th Street Church of Christ. Interment will be 2pm Monday at Wanette Cemetery.
