Louis Adam Edmonds was born on January 13, 1934 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada and went to be with his maker on December 16, 2017 in Oklahoma City. Louis was the son of Thomas Lawton Edmonds and Marion Alice Tall Edmonds. He moved to Santa Cruz, California as a teenager. At 17 he made the most important decision of his life when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was then baptized at the Santa Cruz Baptist Church. Louis wanted to join the U.S. Navy before he was old enough, so his grandmother. Willie Senft signed his papers allowing him to join. He served in the Korean War and loved his travels in the Asian Islands. He was a Machinist Mate Second Class (E5). His life as a seaman instilled a hard work ethic and the love for adventure. He married his beloved wife, Estelean Marie Wolf Edmonds, in 1958. He left the U.S. Navy after 10 years of service with an Honorable Discharge and they moved to Oklahoma City. Louis worked as a Tool and Die maker for 40 years at various companies and retired from Gulfstream. Louis and Estelean had 7 children who were proud to be called “Edmonds”. Louis would tease his children that “Edmonds don’t share.” They made each of their children feel special and dearly loved. Louis was a baseball coach, softball coach and a hockey coach. He was actively involved in his children’s activities. One of his favorite past times was listening to golden oldies and dancing. He could cut a mean rug. He loved his Canadian family and his wife’s Native American family very much. He taught his kids the value of family. He was an excellent storyteller. If you said hello to him you could expect to hear a story. He had many stories and he could embellish them like no other. His memory was sharp and long. He was a devoted OSU fan and followed the Cowboy sports teams faithfully. Louis loved watching and supporting the activities both his children and grandchildren participated. His grandchildren cherished their time spent with him – it was never a dull moment. He lived his life to the fullest and spoke of his strength and faith in the Lord as his sustainer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelean, his oldest son, Roland Dee Edmonds. He is survived by his children Ronda Pinkerton and husband, Curt of OKC, Tyrone Edmonds and wife, Barbara of Minco, Michael Edmonds and wife, Leslie of Bethany, Kenny Edmonds and husband, Jim Emery of Vancouver, Canada, Ann Pennokee and husband, Nathan of Piedmont and Marion Ramirez and husband, Randy of Bethany. He was lovingly referred to as Pop or Grandpa by his 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also a host of family and friends who will miss him greatly.
