Loren James Thomas, 84, of Midwest City passed away Friday, February 28, 2014. Loren was born January 21, 1930 in Oklahoma City to Lon and Anna (Lewis) Thomas. After spending time in the Army, Loren worked in carpentry and retired from the Carpenter’s Union. He was very accomplished and produced beautiful work. Loren loved tinkering as well as carpentry and if it was broke, he could fix it. He would often tell you, “I can do anything but spell.” He was a hard worker and always took care of his family. Loren loved model trains and had a lifelong collection that he enjoyed “playing” with. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and was a member of the Gold Wing Club. Above all, Loren adored his family. He loved making his grandchildren laugh, often with made up stories that they will remember and pass on to future generations for years to come. He was a wonderful husband to Norma and a role model for his children. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. Loren is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters, Rhonda Boles and Carolyn Swift and her husband Randy; grandchildren, Morgan Garrett, Hannah and Taylor; great grandchildren, Hudson, Bowen, and Kaiden; and brother, Larry. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Lonnie; and brother, Lawrence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Dickson Baptist Church with burial to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens. Viewing will be held noon to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2 and 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 3 with family available to greet guests on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
