“Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.” (Psalm 116)
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, Long Nguyễn. Born January 1, 1927, in Nghệ An, Vietnam. Entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2023 at 96 years old.
Our father was a skilled fisherman for most of his life in Vietnam. A few years after the war ended in 1975, he made the courageous decision to take not only his wife and seven children, but another family, in the middle of the night to load onto his fishing boat to flee Vietnam. He navigated the dark ocean like he would have on any typical work day and our family was brought to safety in Malaysia. After we were sponsored to come to America, he worked anywhere that would take him, from a candy factory to retiring at age 70 from a plastic fabrication factory. He worked tirelessly his whole life to provide for his family and cared for his children and grandchildren up to the last few moments before his passing.
Preceded in passing by his wife and four sons. Survived by his younger sister, three sons, five daughters and their families. His courage, faith, humor and love for his family will be dearly missed by all.
