Lois was born on March 6, 1936 in Ada, OK to Floyd and Alta Mae (Jenkins) Hill. She was raised and attended schools in Ada. Following high school, she worked as a waitress at the local café. On March 10, 1956 she married the love of her life, Claude Parks Sumner and they would go on to raise five wonderful children together. The Sumner family lived in California and New Mexico before ultimately moving to OKC in 1980.
Lois managed Snyder’s Mobile Home Park for many years and finally retired in early 2000. After 45 years of marriage, Claude passed in 2001 and shortly after his death Lois relocated to Noble, OK. In 2015, she moved to Tecumseh, where she would live until her passing.
Lois was a kind and independent woman who had an ornery streak. She had a passion for gardening and could grow just about anything. She enjoyed being outdoors, swimming, and going dancing with Claude. Lois was generous and giving and found great satisfaction in volunteering with the local Salvation Army. She made an unmistakable impact on the lives of those around her and she will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Claude; her parents Floyd and Alta Hill; two sons: Larry and Steve Sumner; two grandsons: Zachary and Luke Sumner; and 9 siblings. She is survived by her three daughters: Linda Dillard and husband Joe, Lorna Little, and Laura Byers and husband Ronnie; 9 grandchildren: Stevie Roberts, Donnie Roberts, Sean Roberts, Tabitha Conklin, Quinton Lee Hutchinson, Jen Sumner, Christopher Sumner, Sunny Sumner, and Zaberin Sumner; three siblings: Jerry Don Hill, Cloretta Hill, and Betty Hill; daughter-in-law Carla Sumner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
