Born Nov. 17, 1933 in Ada, OK to Lowell Van Turner and Beatrice (Lackey) Turner. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carmelita Gillette of Park Hills, MO. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Johnita Turner, of the home and his 6 children, Scott Turner and wife Lee Ann of Ft. Pierce, Fl.; Kim Harvey and husband Dr. John Harvey of Oklahoma City; Kellie Turner of Valley Center, CA.; Jamie Benge and husband Mark of Oklahoma City; Blake E. Turner and wife Angela of Oklahoma City; Lionel E. Turner, Jr. and wife Mary of Takoma Park, MD.; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and numerous family and friends. Lionel graduated from OU School of Engineering. He first retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 29 years and later retired again from Dynamics Research Corp. after 11 years in 2010. He owned and operated Willow Way Bed & Breakfast for 24 years with his wife Johnita. Lionel was active in the Oklahoma Orchid Society, loved water gardening, his red tractor and a certain bird named Ringo. He is missed by all that knew him for his easy going nature. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 in the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel.
