Linda was born on Nov 14th, 1951 to Ann & Clarke Benham in Ft Worth, Texas. She grew up in a house next to Lake Worth in a very close-knit family of two brothers Scotty and Brett and one sister Janice. After graduating from Arlington Heights High School, she went on to study Geology at the University of Texas Arlington. There she met a handsome grad student named Jim Richardson. After graduation, they were married in 1973 and then moved overseas for many years to England, Indonesia and Singapore. They had three children Paul, Jennifer, and Emily. She was a devoted wife and proud mother and grandmother. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others and was always willing to help. She was very involved in volunteer work and was a Girl Scout leader. She and the family moved to Oklahoma in the mid-1980s and finally settled down to stay. She then earned her Master's in Business also from UTA and started her own business helping other small businesses from around the world with marketing, accounting, and consulting. Linda was a very creative person and was skilled at drawing, painting, photography, and graphic design. She enjoyed cooking, camping, gardening, and sewing. We will miss her greatly. Linda was predeceased by her younger brother Jay Scott Benham just last year.
Linda was an avid traveler and saw many different countries. She never met a stranger on her journeys; only new friends. She was a born storyteller and could tell you many interesting facts about the history and culture of places around the globe. She has been to most of the countries in Europe as well as Russia, Japan, Mexico, Columbia, Thailand, and New Zealand. She and her family also traveled a lot in the States and if you have ever had the privilege of going on vacation with her you would get a full-color, 10 page, printed itinerary down to the minute. Her last big trip was to see her beloved granddaughter Abbey in Hawaii as her daughter Jennifer Tyler & husband Travis live there now.
Linda led a very active life right up to the end. She was a member of EARS the Edmond Amateur Radio Society for over 30+ years, call sign N5OJP. She was a member of the Oakie Wine Club who brews their own wine, though ironically she rarely drank but enjoyed the science of the process and the learning about wine and food from around the world. She was an active member and ambassador for the South OKC Chamber of Commerce. Although she mostly retired and was focusing on spending more time with family, she loved the hustle and bustle of working on projects and she still enjoyed planning special events and networking groups.
You may send flowers if you choose. She loved all flowers and colors but her favorites were iris, daffodils, tulips, orchids, and sunflowers. You may also contribute to a charity of your choice; her favorites were the Girl Scouts, PBS, the Science Museum or the American Cancer Society.
