Lewis Wayne Harms, 80 year-old resident of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on August 31, 2015. Born July 5, 1935 in Cordell, Oklahoma, he was the son of Abe Harms and Nellie (Nichols) Harms. Lewis was a high iron steel worker and for many years he built radio towers for the U.S. Government. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Lewis loved to go fishing; woodworking; and carpentry. He had gifted hands and could do anything that required a “hands on” approach. Lewis was an extremely hard worker and had done hard physical labor until he was 65 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Paul Burchardt; 2 brothers, Alfred and Orville Harms; and 1 sister, Lillian Harms. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Harms of the home; 3 sons, Wayne Harms of Portland, Oregon; Kenneth D. Burchardt and his wife Ellen of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and Lewis Eugene Harms and his wife Debra of Noble, Oklahoma; 1 daughter, Teresa Rogers and her husband Tom of Denver, Colorado; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73141. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3rd at Union Hatchet Cemetery near Bessie, Oklahoma with burial following Military Honors.
