Lester left this earth for his heavenly home on Saturday, February 1, 2020. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather (Papa), son, brother, and friend. He was born May 5, 1925 in Brewer, AR to James and Florence Waddle. When he was a small child, his parents moved to Stratford, OK. Growing up during the Great Depression, Lester learned early in life about hard work. He worked not only on the farm but traveled out of state with his family to pick cotton when needed.
He met Doris Eeds when she was 16 and he was 19 in Stratford, OK at the Bayless Drug Store. He was smitten at their first meeting and they were married four years later on July 2, 1948. They were blessed with two sons and celebrated 65 years together until she passed away on March 21, 2014. Lester greatly loved his family and was a dedicated follower of Christ since 1964.
Lester worked as welder and truck body specialist for over 30 years at American Trailers, and then for City Springs Works where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris, parents, and Sister Grace Moore. He is survived by son Carl Waddle (Melanie), son Greg Waddle (Dia), grandchildren Jim Waddle (Sheena), Charlie Waddle, Alex Martin and step-grandchild Jina Waddle, great-grandchildren Ben and Olivia Waddle, and brother-in-law, Carroll Eeds.
A celebration of his life will be held 10:30am on Wednesday, February 5th at Southern Oaks Free Will Baptist Church in S. OKC, conducted by the Rev David Sutton. Burial will take place at 3pm Wednesday at McGee Cemetery in Stratford, OK. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4th from 12-8pm at Advantage Funeral Service at 7720 S. Penn in S. OKC. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm.
