Lester was born in Spencer, Oklahoma on August 18, 1934. One of three children born to Lester and Ester Groves, Lester spent his formative years in Spencer.
He would go on to serve in the United States Air Force and to have a career as a Flight Simulator Designer with the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired from the FAA in Oklahoma City after 35 years.
Lester served his community as well. He volunteered in his free time as a Scout Master and took pride in doing so. He helped at local cemeteries digging many graves throughout his life.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Florence Waitman Groves, son Lester Kenneth Groves, Jr., two sisters Blanche Louise Groves Stroope and her husband Herman Stroope and Betty Louise Groves Peters and her husband Earnest Lee Peters and his brother Clifford Victor England.
He leaves to carry on his legacy his daughter Calena Groves; son Sam Groves and wife Cindy; grandchildren Amber and husband Bronson Kenworthy, Ross and wife Kalie Groves and Kevin and wife Simona Groves; six great grandchildren as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, 2023 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 4 pm – 8 pm. A service to celebrate his life will be Wednesday, September 29, 2023 at 10 am at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment with military honors following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
