Leola “Lea” Mae Courtney passed away on September 10, 2016. Born on January 30, 1923 in Okeene, Oklahoma. The second of three children, born to Charles Forrest and Daisy Amanda (Platt) Hockett. Grew up in the Okeene area, graduated from Okeene High School, attended Draughans Business University in Oklahoma City. Married Earldean “Earl” Courtney, they enjoyed life together for over 54 years, until his death in 2003. Lea started her Civil Service Career at Will Rogers Field during World War II, worked in Washington, D.C. and San Diego, California before retiring at Tinker Air Force Base with 23 years of service. Lea retired early due to long term physical problems, results of a car accident. Spent 20 years as a Realtor in the Oklahoma City area. A member of Putnam City Baptist Church; Harmony Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, servicing as Worthy Grand Matron of Oklahoma in 1981; Past High Priestess of Mizpah White Shrine. She was preceded in death by her Earl; her parents Charles and Daisy Hockett; brother Ray Hockett, and sister Eileen (Hockett) Black. Survived by her special nephew Gary Orrell and wife Glinda, great nephews, Lynn Orrell, Van Orrell, Kevin Orrell, and families. She enjoyed reading, visiting with friends, and traveling. She and Earl traveled all over the United States and made several trips to Canada and Mexico
