Lear Ettie Thompson passed away September 27, 2011. She was born September 8, 1924 to William Henry and Ada E. (Brooks) Childers in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Lear graduated from Piedmont High School in 1941. She was a long time member of Wickline United Methodist Church. Lear worked as a secretary at Westside Elementary School in the Mid-Del School District. She was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband of 68 years, Clinton M. Thompson; siblings, Troy and Esther, Homer, and James Childers and Eula and Eugene Porter; sister-in-law, Mildred Baker; brothers-in-law, Bibe Baker, Melvin Jordan, Lester Basey, and Willard Thompson. Lear is survived by her sons, Clinton Martin Thompson, Jr. (Marty) and Charleen Thompson, and Keith Thompson and his wife, Gail; grandchildren, Christine, Catie, Melissa and Nick and his wife, Jennifer; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen Basey, Estella Jordan, Bob Thompson, Jane Patterson, and Glenn Thompson and their families. She enjoyed quilting, needlepoint and crocheting. She was a great mother and loving grandmother who spread her love and joy to all she met. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Wickline United Methodist Church 417 MidAmerica Blvd. Midwest City, OK 73110 for Clinton and Lear Thompson Scholarship Fund.
