Lawrence Earl Ballard—affectionately known as “Sea-Dog”—was born February 19, 1954 to Rev. Joseph and Betty Ballard in Muskogee, OK. He was named after his grandfather, Lawrence Earl Hamilton. He passed away August 30, 2013.
Being reared in a Christian environment, Lawrence joined Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Muskogee at an early age, under the Pasturage of Rev. Lee D. Moore. He attended Sunday school, Baptist Training Union, and participated in the choir.
He attended school in Muskogee and graduated in 1972. He was active in sports – especially basketball.
He served in the Army in 1975.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandson, David Jack.
He is survived by wife, Margaret of Oklahoma City; daughters: Shemika of Texas, and Belinda "Shaka" and RaeNell of OKC; son, David Roman Nose; grandchildren: Darion, Jacob, Kenneth, Stephen Jr. “Big Man”, and Anthony “Hide Him”; mother, Betty Ballard of Muskogee; sister, Carolyn Bowens (Volna); four brothers: Joseph of Muskogee, Phillip of Oklahoma City, Reuben of Muskogee, and Stephen & wife Monice of Tulsa; aunt, Lee Alice Riley of Wichita, KS; and sisters-in-law and cousins.
