Passed in peace Sat., July 21, 2018 at the age of 88. He was born on June 9, 1930 in Oklahoma City where he spent his life. Preceded in death by his parents, LaVon Victor and Ellen Lee (Dickey) Henson, and his forever partner and love of his life Delores Armstrong.
Lavon (Big Jim) was the owner of Henson TV and Appliance and proudly sold some of the first color tvs in Okc. He enjoyed activities such as camping, boating, motorcycles, and snow skiing and was president of the OKC Ski Club 63-64. Jim loved traveling and had his pilot’s license. He spent much of his time enjoying the Colorado Mountains. He traveled to Europe many times throughout his life. He was an avid model train collector and actively participated in the Okc Train Club.
His devotion to his Lord was his greatest passion. He was baptized on May 3, 1942 at the First Christian Church of Okmulgee, OK. He was a member of Trinity Bible Church and dedicated much of his life to his bible studies.
He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, James M. Henson, Thomas G. and Cynthia L. Henson, four grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
His family and friends will forever miss the “Big Jim Smile” that we were embraced with every time we saw him. His loving heart and joyful personality will be missed and live forever in our hearts.
Services celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 1:00 Aug. 3, 2018 at Trinity Bible Church.
