Larry D. Whitaker of Edmond, OK, was born in Tellson, AZ, October 19, 1940. He went to his Heavenly home on March 17, 2013, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was a graduate of Wynnewood OK High School, served in the US Marine Corps, and was a retired OKC Firefighter. He was also an active member of the Edmond Elks Lodge.
His hobbies and interests were watching football, traveling, playing his guitar, and singing. He loved to dance and was an avid book reader. He also enjoyed playing cards with his Elks brothers. His talents were oil painting and Western Art bronzing. He had a keen sense of humor, a love for life, and was a devoted Christian.
Larry is survived by his wife of 14 years, Billie; son, Larry Whitaker, Jr., of CA; stepchildren: Kelly & husband Patrick Hall, David Green, Sandy & husband John Connelly, and Julie Reinke; sister, Carolyn & husband Duane Boyce; two brothers, Kenneth Whiteaker and Bobby Whiteaker; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Friday, from 9am to 8pm. Funeral services will be 2pm, Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
