On March 12, Larry Owens Bower passed away after a battle with Lung Cancer. Larry is survived by his wife, Becky, and his daughter Shon, son-in-law Bryan McAlister, brother, Hadley Bower, Jr and a host of nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Hadley and Mary Bower, and brothers, Walter Bower and Michael Bower. Larry was a graduate of John Marshall High School and attended Central State University. He also spent three years in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. Larry spent his career in the commercial restaurant equipment industry. He started L&F Sales Co, Inc. in 1980 was still working until his death. His passion in life was cars and racing. He had been a member of the Sports Car Club of America for more than 40 years. He spent his weekends racing at events all across the country. In his later years, he enjoyed managing a Chump Car racing team. He also began rebuilding Cushman scooters in his “retirement.” Larry wasn’t happy unless he was working on something – either at L&F Sales or his cars or scooters. The only time he sat still was to watch a race. He also was very fond of “tea time” on Friday afternoons with his friends and racing family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper at 6600 Broadway Extension in Oklahoma City.
