Kay was born on April 6, 1943 to Doyle and Dorothy (Showalter) Good in Lima Ohio. Kay graduated from Perry High School in 1961. She went to work in the office at Perry High School in 1962, and worked there while she went to and completed airline stewardess schooling. However, at the end of schooling she decided that she did not want to fly!
In July of 1968, Kay met Gary Tollefson in Carmel Indiana when she went to visit her sister Marilyn. Gary was working with Marylyn’s husband Wayne at Lynnwood Farm, a Purdue University Farm. It did not take them long to know that they were soul mates and to be married. They married on December 28, 1968 at Westminster Christian Church in Westminster, OH. Kay and Gary went on to have 6 children. Whitney, David, Grant, Eric, and their twins Chastity and Tiffany. As the family grew, they moved several times throughout the Midwest and to a providence of Canada, Gary worked in consignment hog farms and Kay worked alongside him as well caring for her family, until they landed in Oklahoma City in 2004.
Kay loved her singing and crafting. She sang in the church choir and in the Sweet Adelines. She loved to cross stich, quill, macramé, all sorts crafts and put puzzles together with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and daughter-in-law’s. She was a natural teacher, helping us all with our school work. She also loved to help us with our 4H projects including entomology and building the floats for the county fair parades.
Kay is survived by her husband Gary of Oklahoma City OK, daughter Whitney (Barry) of Aurora CO, son David (Linda) of Pink Hill NC, son Grant (Janet) of Webb City MO, son Eric (Michelle) of Webb City MO, and daughter Chastity of Oklahoma City OK. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn (Wayne) Yake of Bedford IN, brother Richard (Barb) Good of Lebanon OH. Grandchildren Misty, Reanna, Kacie, Jennae, Trey, Dylan, Titus, Tanner, Thor, Tiffany, Topanga, Rebecca, Derick, Aleigha, Kelli, Bethany and Bryce. Great grandchildren Kaybra, Zoee, Ayden, Quentin, Kadence, Brookyln, Ava, Jayken, Ethan, Asher, Jaxson and Nirah. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Kay was predeceased by her father Doyle Good, mother Dorothy Good, daughter Tiffany Tollefson, sister Carolyn Good, sister Karen (Good) Taylor, brother Roger Good and grand-daughter Brittany Daniel.
A celebration of life for Kay will be held at First Baptist Church in Norman OK on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
