

Karen Marie Rogers was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on July 13, 1936. She grew up in Carnegie and Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating from Central High School in Tulsa. Karen attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a Delta Gamma and met the love of her life Donald Resler. She obtained a bachelors and master’s degree in education. Don and Karen married September 1st, 1957 in Carnegie. She taught elementary students in Oklahoma City, including the elementary that was the first school integrated by the Oklahoma City Public Schools district.
Karen was an avid reader and was a lifelong educator, with her children and through volunteer in numerous children reading programs including Whiz Kids, her church and the Metropolitan Library system. Karen loved the arts and was involved with the Contemporary Arts Foundation, including participating in their theatre productions. Karen was an active member of numerous bible studies and churches most recently St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Oklahoma City. Karen was also a volunteer Young Life Leader hosting numerous activities in their home at Blue Stem Lake.
Karen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorthy Van Eaton Nelson and is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dr. Donald Resler; children Gayle and her husband Bryan McCrory, Don and his wife Ann Resler, and Susan and her husband Schuyler Ford and Dr Joe Phillips; grandchildren Tommy and his wife Meg McCrory, Taylor and his wife Bethany McCrory, Maddie and her husband Brooks Middleton, Rylee Greenwood, Jackson Resler and Anderson Resler; and nine great grandchildren Evelyn McCrory, Anna Margaret McCrory, Caleb McCrory, Adelaide McCrory, Libby Middleton, Eden McCrory, Donnie Middleton, Tucker McCrory and Lily Joy McCrory; and cousin’s Alice Van Eaton Lanning and Gayla Van Eaton Way.
