Karen Joanne Henry, daughter of John Leonard and Doris Johnson, wife of Marlon Henry was born November 16, 1935 at Rapid City, SD. Karen lived in Rapid City until the completion of her 11th grade year of school. Karen and family relocated to Moorehead, MN in 1952 and completed her senior year graduating from Moorehead High School in 1953. Having met the love of her life in 1951, in Rapid City, Karen married Marlon in 1955 and began their life together living in Rapid City until 1966 before moving to Las Cruces, NM. In 1976, Karen and family moved to Cedar City, UT and over the next 2 and a half years, they moved from Cedar City to Richardson, TX to Wheeling, WV and finally arriving in Yukon, OK in November of 1978. Karen began working for Hobby Lobby in 1979 and various other companies before retiring. Karen had a beautiful voice and had a strong passion for singing in her church choir. She had a great love for cooking and always looked forward to church socials and family gatherings. Her kitchen was truly her favorite place in her home. She loved sewing, traveling and camping and spent many hours “on the road” visiting family or sitting in their favorite camp site at the lake. Karen left this world to walk the streets of glory with her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday June 19, 2021 at home in Mustang, OK at the age of 85.
She is survived by her husband Marlon of the home, sons & daughters, Michael Henry, Barbara (Scott) Sherman, Brian (Donna) Henry, and Paula (Sherman) Reed, 1 sister, Margee (Louis) Johnson Witte, 11 grand-children, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating the life of Karen will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1441 SW 104th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73159. Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK at 10 a.m.
