Kaleem “Kay” Simon went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday April 2, 2024. He was born in Borger, Texas on August 26, 1929 to Addy P. and Diamond Simon. One of eleven children and the youngest of six brothers, Kay idolized his older siblings. As a young boy he would follow his brothers around just so he could spend time with them. They were masters at billiards, cards and dominoes, and Kay learned very early in his life how to master them as well. After high school Kay attended OU and then served for four years in the United States Air Force. His sharp math skills then led him into banking where he quickly excelled at the First National Bank in Oklahoma City and enjoyed much success. He owned his own business and also worked at Junior’s Supper Club, his beloved brother’s restaurant. Kay loved sports and even until his last days, could tell you stats and information on just about any team. Kay was a gentle man, as well as a gentleman - in the truest sense of the word. It has been said many times of him…“Everybody loves Kay”, and that is exactly how others felt about him. Kay is preceded in death by his parents, and by brothers Ned, Fred, Amil, Richard, Junior, and sisters Lou, Flo and Kathy. He is survived by sisters Madeline Rahill and Charlene Rahill, his godchildren Tina Hilbert and Kelsey Backry, and many nieces and nephews who he loved so very much. Susan Backry, his beloved niece, was like a daughter to Kay. Her children, Kelsey, Michael, Kenzie and Alex were loved and adored by him like they were his own grandchildren. They were such a source of joy to him and the lights of his life. The family would like to extend very special thanks to Karrale (“K.D”), Max, Maggie, Lilly, Anitra, Phyllis and Sylvia for loving “Uncle Kay” and for taking such excellent care of him. Services will be held on Monday April 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Hahn-Cook Funeral Home, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116.
