She lived her earlier years in Boise City, OK and moved with her family to Enid, OK in 1933 where she graduated from Enid High School in 1944. She married Garth E. Underkoffler of Enid, and they attended school at Southwestern State University in Weatherford, OK. They moved to Oklahoma City, where she has resided since. She worked as a Secretary in the Presbyterian Synod Office for a number of years before returning to continue her education at Central State University in Edmond. She became a Business Education teacher for Opportunities Industrialization Center for twelve years where she taught and encouraged hundreds of unemployed, untrained, and underemployed young women to become successful office workers and secretaries. She spent the last few years of her career teaching at Metro Vo-Tech School before transferring to Mable Bassett Prison for Women, where she taught inmates typing and beginning computer in a pilot program which developed into an educational program for incarcerated women, retiring in 1986. She was a 42 years active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Lauraeta Iota Chapter, a past member of University Lioness Club, and a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she had worked as a secretary and a church school teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garth; a sister, Inita Scott Spivy of Waukomis, OK; a brother, Ivan Scott, of Enid, OK; and a brother, Irvin Scott, of Lake Tenkiller, OK. She is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Terry and Joanie Underkoffler of Oklahoma City, and Gerry and Katrinka Underkoffler of Oklahoma City; two granddaughters and their husbands, Delanya and Tim Trammell of Yukon, OK, and Traci and Eric Bean of Guthrie, OK; grandson, Andy Underkoffler of Oklahoma City and three great-grandchildren, Reece Trammell, Brynn Trammell, and Averi Bean; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. She loved all her family very much and dedicated her life to helping and improving the lives of others. She was the matriarch, historian, and rock of our extended family. Though we remain to mourn our great loss, we rejoice that her suffering is over and she resides in peace in God’s kingdom.
