She was born in McKeesport, PA to Julius and Viola Caso and moved to Oklahoma City with her mom and sister in 1951. She graduated from Classen High School, married her sweetheart, Johnny, and started a family, with adored son, John Lee and later, Julie, in northwest Oklahoma City, where they lived throughout their near 63-year marriage. She also served the State of Oklahoma for many years at the Department of Commerce and State Employers Group Insurance Board.
Judy had a passion for life, a big smile, determined spirit, loving heart, and quiet, knowing sense of humor. Her delights were her family, the family dogs, and travel. She was a smart, fun mom; an avid baker, reader, and gardener; and an adventurous water skier and boater. She loved laughter-filled outings with family, long phone calls with her sister, the beach, Elvis and opera, drives in the Corvette, and time spent at Lake Hefner with John.
She was a dearly loved wife, mother, sister, and aunt, and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the amazing staff of Daily Living Center-Bethany for their loving care for her, over the past two and a half years that truly brought her joy and extended her life. They also wish to thank the wonderful staff of Heritage Point of OKC and Integris Hospice House for their care in her final days.
A graveside service will be held for immediate family at Memorial Park Cemetery, Saturday, January 16, followed by a Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends at a date to be determined. The family asks that those wishing to express sympathy consider making a monetary or “supply wish list” donation to the Daily Living Centers of Oklahoma, “In memory of Judy Cunningham” (www.dlcok.org/donate).
