John Richard Warrior, (84), passed away on Jan. 22, 2024 at Select Specialty Hospital, Oklahoma City. He was the husband of Deborah Roberts-Warrior. They met in Saudi Arabia, married in Abu Dhabi and shared 30 years of marriage. John was born in Middlesbrough, England and was the son of Charles Richard Warrior and Hilda (Hull) Warrior. His professional training was in chemical engineering. He worked for ICI, Union Carbide, and Unilever in Europe and developed a silicon factory for Adwan Industries in Saudi Arabia. His career diverted into business development in Saudi Arabia with British Aerospace and Lucent Technologies. After transferring to Oklahoma City with Lucent Technology, John was very proud to become an American citizen. John was an inveterate traveler for his work and leisure. He traveled throughout Europe, the Soviet Union/Russia, China, and Bali. He also enjoyed exploring the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the USA. He loved his family, travel, and had a mischievous sense of humor. In his mind, he saw himself as “Scott of the Antarctic”, an explorer, a pioneer, a traveler.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah, Christopher and Julia Warrior, Michael Warrior and Lisa Glover, Robert and Christine Warrior, Tony and Anissa Warrior, Alex and Helen Warrior, Marla and Chris Joslin, and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ron Warrior.
The memorial service will be held on January 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Advantage Funeral Home, 7720 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
