John Gerald Smith, 71, of Oklahoma City died on Sunday morning, February 5, 2023 after a complicated illness. He was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on December 16, 1959 to Mary and Floyd Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, and 5 siblings: Paula, Ray, Irene (Bubbles), Glenda, and Scottie. John served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal and was honorably discharged. He was married to Evangeline Smith for nearly 44 years.
John was a cross country truck driver for 27 years and received his 2-million-mile award before he retired from CFI. He loved volunteering for events at Western Oaks Elementary School. He loved reading, watching Yellowstone, and loved to be with his pets. John was hard working and was always ready to lend a hand to someone in need. He loved talking to people and loved socializing with family and friends.
John is survived by his dog Buster; his wife, Evangeline; 5 children, Lisa, Tina, Joey, Tim and his wife Shannon, Mary and her husband Robert, his cousins Susan and Margaret Ann, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for John will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Bill Eisenhour NE Funeral Home Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. With interment to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N. Midwest Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
