John Graves Honea was born in Dothan, Texas on November 2, 1930 and went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2022 in the comfort of his home. He was the widower of Therese Honea. They met while he was in the service in France and married in 1949 and were married for 62 years. He was a hard worker and took a lot of pride in that. He worked at a gas station for many years and later he worked in the oil field and eventually started his own oilfield business called “Honea Sales”. He was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. His favorite hobby was fishing. He also liked to tend to his garden, play cards, spend time with family, watch old western and war movies, listening to classical western music, spending time with his precious dog Roxy.
He is survived by his wife Mesuda Honea who has been taking exceptional care of him for the last 5 ½ years. His son John W. Honea & wife Janis, sisters Vera Mae Ingram & Rachel Cagle, grandson Lee Honea & wife Tammy, granddaughter Leasa Pracht & husband Ben, great grandchildren Travis Honea, Brandon Honea, Lauren Clark, Chandler Clark, J.D. Carper & Toby Carper. He is preceded in death by his wife Therese Honea, daughter Mary Carper, grandson John Carper, sister Virginia Whitehead, brothers, Jackie Honea & Stanley Honea and mother Lora Jessup Honea. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A come & go viewing for John will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service-South Chapel, 7720 South Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Sunny Lane Cemetery, 4000 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115. John will be laid to rest in Section: 17, Lot: 3, Grave: 70 SE.
Serving as pallbearers are Lee Honea, Ben Pracht, Chandler Clark, Travis Honea, Brandon Honea, Luis Ponce, J.D Carper, and Toby Carper.
