Born on February 10, 1935, Joe Phillippe lived a long, happy life and passed to his heavenly Father on February 03, 2015, at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents Alda and Martin Joe Phillippe. Joe was born in Comanche, Oklahoma. Growing up, he lived in several cities and towns before attending and graduating from Norman High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma where he joined the Kappa Alpha fraternity; then earned his Ph.D in Dentistry from Baylor University. After graduating college he joined the U.S. Air Force, obtaining the rank of Captain. He practiced dentistry during his three years tour of duty and received an Honorable Discharge from the service. He returned to Oklahoma and started his dental practice in southwest Oklahoma City with his mentor, partner and good friend Dr. Buddy A. Shadid. Joe dedicated his professional life to his patients and staff. Known for his generosity, he often made trades and barter agreements for his services, and even donated them for free when he saw the need. After 47 years of dentistry, he retired due to health issues and to spend more time with his family.
Joe, loved life, always had the most positive outlook on life. He also loved and enjoyed his dogs and bred Great Pyrenees, siring one Grand Champion. He enjoyed Golf and was an active member of the Greens Country Club for many years. Joe was also an avid reader, and a writer, having penned a number of short stories and other articles.
Joe is survived by his wife and the love of his life Dorinda Phillippe; sons Bryan and Jay Phillippe; brother-in-law Wayne Rutherford; daughters-in-laws Gabrielle and Rachel Phillippe; grandchildren, Perrianne and Deacon Phillippe, Creed and Jade Smith and Carley Hughes; nieces and nephews Parke Rutherford, Traci Emberton, Heather Seidl Michael Rutherford, cousin Phyllis Argo and family, and “ Maxwell aka Max” , Joe's beloved Yorkie.
