Harry “Joe” Martin passed into the light to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the early morning hours on February 23, 2013. He was born to Verlin “Slim” Martin and Laura “Belle” Martin, on June 18, 1952. He is survived by his wife Robin of the home, two sisters Verlinda Magby and Vyonda Martin both of Edmond as well as his faithful companions Coco and Miss Betty. He is also survived by two nieces Darcy Griffin and Krissy Knoch of Edmond as well as many friends and family.
He was a graduate of Putnam City High School and attained the honor of becoming an Eagle Scout.
He met Robin on a blind date in 1976. They were united in Christian marriage on January 9, 1981. He took the role of husband seriously and worked very hard to provide for his wife. He portrayed the biblical role of a husband loving his wife as Christ loved the church.
He was passionate about his trade and always strived for excellence. Joe worked for 17 years at Mercy Health Center promoting to power plant supervisor. He also worked for 6 years as an engineering manager at St Anthony Hospital finishing his career with Johnson Controls as Chiller Team Manager. He was the best in the business and had a mechanical gift of troubleshooting and just knowing what to do to fix things. He loved his work family very much.
He and Robin spent their off times fishing, traveling together and spending time with friends sharing good conversation. He and Robin shared a loving and close friendship that is difficult to find in a life time. They explored as much as they could in their travels together and found a way to have fun where ever they went.
He had a tremendous zest for life and a great compassion for people. He also had a love for dogs and graciously accepted any stray his wife would bring home.
He was an avid hunter. He and his friend Larry shared many hunting seasons together and he always looked forward to it each and every year. Even if Larry did end up taking home all of the rope at the end of each hunt. They had a very special bond of friendship.
He was special to those who loved and knew him.
