Joanne Little was born on March 29,1948 to Jim and Lillie Simpson in Oklahoma City, OK. While in high school, she was very active in many activities such as the swim team where she was also a synchronized swimmer. Joanne began dating her future husband, Wayne Little, their junior year. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1966.
After high school, Joanne continued her studies at Oklahoma State University. Although one year was enough, time away from Wayne she decided to move back to Oklahoma City and attended Central State College instead. She worked at the OKCPS Board of Education while going to college and eventually graduated with a teaching degree.
Joanne and Wayne were now ready to begin their family together. Joanne and Wayne were married at Capitol Hill Baptist Church on March 29, 1969. They were truly a match made in heaven and spent 50 amazing years together, in which the LORD blessed them with two sons, Jeffrey and Michael.
She was a faithful public servant teaching at several Oklahoma City Public Schools. She reached nearly four decades of students and in doing so she made a multigenerational impact on her community. Joanne never met a stranger and always felt compelled to spread the Gospel to everyone that would listen. She loved spending time with Wayne, her boys and grandchildren. Many of her last years were spent caring for Wayne in his time of need. She never complained and after losing him in 2020, a moment never passed without her longing for her husband.
Joanne was a strong believer and prayed all the time for her family and friends. Even though she will be missed by everyone who knew her, she is now free of all that ailed her. She now is reunited with Wayne, those gone before and her savior Jesus Christ.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, and husband. She is survived by son Jeffrey and his wife Amber; son Michael and his wife Emily; grandchildren Jace, Grace and Ella Jo; brother-in-law Rick and wife Linda; sister-in-law Teena and her husband Steve; and many nieces and nephews.
