Jerry McKnight Love, resident of Nichols Hills, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2012. She was born in Oklahoma City to Pauline Green McKnight and Hal Burr McKnight. Jerry attended Casady School and Classen High School. She graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in education and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She received her master’s degree in History from Oklahoma City University.
In 1974, Jerry married her best friend, attorney Jack Love, and had their daughter, Paula. In 1978, she founded Accent Modeling Agency, Oklahoma’s premiere modeling agency, with co-owner Marylyn Rowel. After running the agency for 15 years, Jerry became vice-president of the oil and gas company her grandfather created, Pauline Oil & Gas Company, in 1929.
She was a tremendous advocate for many local nonprofit organizations in Oklahoma City. Jerry served on the board and was president of Oklahoma City Town Hall, a member of Oklahoma City Orchestra League, a founding member of Weeders & Seeders, a board member of the Persimmon Hill Neighborhood Association and board member of The Oklahoma Arabian Horse Club, for which she founded its scholarship program to support young riders with scholarships for college.
She is survived by daughter Paula Love and brother Hal McKnight. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Love, mother, Pauline Green McKnight, father Hal McKnight.
For more than 25 years, Jerry managed her family horse and cattle ranch, The Chase Farm. Her love for horses, specifically the Arabian horse, was her passion. She and her daughter Paula traveled the country showing Arabians and received many awards, including multiple national championships. Jerry had unconditional love for horses, dog and cats and was a true steward of the earth.
Friends and family will remember her wonderful sense of humor and her passion for life. Jerry had a way of touching the lives of those she encountered in a profound way.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2nd at 1 p.m. at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocacy), Free To Live Animal Sanctuary, Blaze’s Tribute Equine Rescue or The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
