J.D. Mahon was born September 29, 1928, in Valliant, Oklahoma to John and Irene (Wells) Mahon. He passed away October 4, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma. J.D. worked as a machine shop foreman at Tinker Air Force Base. As a proud member of the United States Air Force, he served 2 enlistments in WWII. He was a sports fan, and always supported O.U. He also coached his children in softball and baseball. J.D. enjoyed fishing, Professional Bull Riding and had a lake house at Eufaula. He was a member of the Choctaw Road Baptist Church. J.D. had a love for dogs, especially for his Chinese pug, “Nellea”. J.D. had a large family that he loved dearly and will miss him very much.
J.D. was preceded in death by his father, John Mahon; mother, Irene (Wells) Mahon; brothers, Billy Paul Mahon, Ronnie Mahon and Benny Mahon; and sister, Reva Miller. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patsy Mahon, son, Jay Mahon; daughter, Tammi Mahon; brother, Jack and wife Jody Mahon; granddaughter, Darbi and husband Johnny Sellers; granddaughter, Jae Lynn and husband Chris Southerland; granddaughter, Emily and husband Tyler Davis; great granddaughters, Calea Mosier, Hadley Southerland and Azlyn Sellers; great grandsons, Cade Mosier and Beckham Davis; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 8, 2018 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel in Oklahoma City. Interment will be directly following at Arlington Memory Gardens.
