Janice F Wood

Janice F. Wood, of OKC, went to her eternal home with Jesus on June 28th, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born on September 19th, 1936 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She spent much of her early life in rural Oklahoma on the Boston Pool oil lease. She surrendered her life to Jesus Christ at the age of 11 and was baptized in the Arkansas River. Janice graduated from Cleveland High school in 1954.She later moved to Oklahoma City and worked for the Oklahoma Publishing Company, APCO Oil, and Kerr McGee Oil Company, among others. She met Richard Wood, the love of her life, at APCO and they were married in 1968. They shared 52 years together before his passing in 2021. She was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery and other areas for more than 50 years.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, J.D and Almina Brooks; brother, J.D Brooks and wife Betty, sister Vola Tanner and husband Audie; sister Lula Rhodes and husband Pete; sister Margie Russell and husband Claude; and brother-in-laws Gene Smith and C.O Pendleton. She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Smith and husband Steve; granddaughter, Jana Rhoton and husband Phillip; grandsons, Conner Smith and Dylan Smith; step-daughter, Lana Henson and husband Karl Semtner; sister, Chris Smith; sister, Dee Pendleton; sister, Doris Frantz and husband Grady; sister-in-law, Wanda Millsap; best friend, Pat Hall; and numerous other extended family and friends.

A visitation for Janice will be held Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service-South Chapel, 7720 South Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 3, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Sunnyside Baptist Church, 1139 SW 48th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73109 with burial to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
