Janice Hogan Baccus, 82, of Edmond, OK, passed away December 23, 2021. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK on December 9, 1939. Janice graduated from John Marshal High School in 1958 and remained active with her classmates throughout her life. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1962 where she majored in Health and Physical Education. She remained an avid Cowboy/poke fan until her last days. In high school and college, she won numerous awards for athletics including Outstanding Senior Woman Athlete.
Janice married Max Clayton Baccus in June 1962. Together they raised their family in Amarillo, Texas, where Janice was a teacher and a coach at Amarillo College and Austin Junior High School. Janice was very active in Amarillo as a softball coach for 12 years, a girl scout leader, and a PTA president.
Janice was always an avid golfer and bridge player. After returning to Oklahoma City/Edmond in 1987, she became a member of the Kickingbird Women's Golf Association and Lincoln Ladies Golf Association and worked at Golf USA.
Janice was always active in her communities during in her life including HOA secretary/treasurer, hosting international tennis players and her beloved food committee chair at Touchmark at the end of her life.
Janice is survived by her daughter Kim Markus; son Bret Baccus; granddaughters Ashley and Allison Petrey; her sister Judy Hogan; and her niece Shelley Mattingly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Max Clayton Baccus.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, December 29th at 12:00pm at Hahn-Cook at 6600 Broadway Extension. Her great nephew, Brian Mattingly, will officiate, and her nephew-in-law Tim Mattingly will sing.
The family suggests donations to charity of one’s choice or to Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (IMGH.org) in lieu of flowers.
