Jane Evans Bolton passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Oklahoma City on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at the age of 96. Her long and full life began on August 29th, 1926 in Meridian, Texas; she was known then as Jane Lomax, the daughter of J.T. and Mary Jane Lomax. She met her future husband, Paul Bolton, in 1941. She graduated from Meridian High School and then went on to attend Texas Wesleyan College while Paul served in WWII. They were married September 1, 1946, and they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary before he passed in 2019.
Together, they moved to Oklahoma City and in 1949, Paul and his father opened Bolton’s Hardware for which Jane served as the board secretary/treasurer. But Jane’s true work in life was her family. In 1949 they welcomed their first daughter, and in 1954 the still growing family moved into the home that Jane and Paul built together and would spend the rest of their lives filling with happy family memories.
Jane and Paul loved to photograph their family, and all those photos act as a testament to the warm and loving home they created. Whether pictures of splashing around the family pool, skiing the slopes at Red River, enjoying countless hours at Lake Texoma, blowing out candles, opening presents beneath the Christmas tree, or just relaxing or playing at home, Jane’s dedication to creating a happy and successful family is documented in every smile.
In their retirement, Jane and Paul spent weeks at a time at their cabin at Lake Texoma where they enjoyed fishing, hosting long summer weekends for the family, and making several close friends in that community. An avid sports enthusiast, Jane loved passing her time watching various sports, but she especially loved to watch OU Football, the Dallas Cowboys, the OKC Thunder, and professional golf.
Jane is preceded in passing by her husband, Paul Bolton; her sister, Ann Campbell; and her son-in-law, Timothy O’Brien. She is survived by her three children: Nancy Miller and husband Randy of Paris, TX; Kathy O’Brien of Edmond, OK; and Steve Bolton and wife Sharon of Jones, OK. She is additionally survived by her grandchildren, Megan Mills and husband Mathew, Maranda Creamer and husband Cameron, Samantha Bolton and betrothed Lachlan Wells, Stephanie Bolton and husband Jameson Steed, and by her great grandchildren, Emmerson Mills and Kilian Creamer. She is also survived by her brother, James Lomax and wife Carolyn; her brother in law, John Campbell; and many generations of nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate her life will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 Northeast 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK on Saturday, October 1 at 2:00 pm.
