Bernie, age 101, passed into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, March 10, in Georgetown, TX. She was born to George & Josephine Carter on July 22, 1920 in Oklahoma City, where she lived most of the first 91 years of her life. She was a graduate of Classen High School. Even after age and health necessitated her move to Texas, she always and ever considered herself an “Okie”.
She married the love of her life, Gerald N. Wilson, before he went overseas to serve in World War 2, and after waiting 3 years for his return, they were able to settle down & begin their family. Bernie loved nothing more than spending time with family. While a homemaker, she gave countless hours to driving kids to activities, PTA committees, church activities and volunteering for many years at St. Anthony Hospital. She loved family picnics, day trips, visiting relatives, spending time at the family trailer on the lake, playing games (especially Yahtze & Uno!) and eating out. Her love for animals – both real and stuffed toys – was well known. Everyone who knew her loved her sweet disposition. She was the ultimate mother, grandma, & great-grandma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald. Survivors include: son Robert Wilson of Yukon, OK; daughters Marcia Iverson of Kissee Mills, MO, and Cheryl (Tom) Robinson of Georgetown, TX; nephew Calvin Clark of Forsyth, MO. Grandchildren: Derek (Leana) Iverson, Jerry (LeAnn) Iverson, Kara (Ben) Henry, Kristi Robinson, and Julie (Blake) Lytz. Great-grandchildren: Sara (Eddy) Oquist, Tiffany Iverson, Tyler Iverson, Aidan Henry, Micah Henry, Maggie Iverson and Lando Lytz. Great-great-grandson: Matthew Oquist.
The family wishes to thank the staff at both Georgetown Living and Tranquility Hospice for all the wonderful love and care you provided for Bernie over the past year and a half. She loved each of you so much!
