Helen L. Stuart was born on March 31, 1920 to Charley and Nell Holman in Idabel, Oklahoma. She died on June 8, 2012. She was 92 years old. She moved from Idabel to Oklahoma City and went to work for Braniff Airlines. She and Dan Stuart were married in 1942. Helen was involved with many community organizations. She was president of the Oklahoma Art Center Association and member of the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma Art Center. Helen was chairman of the Beaux Arts Ball and was a member of the Women’s Committee of the Symphony and a member of the Junior League. She served as Coliseum chairman of the Charity Horse Show and was an enthusiastic worker for the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club’s “Boomerang”. She was also chairman of the Country Club’s activities committee. Helen was a long time member of St. Paul’s Cathedral and her faith was deeply important to her. Helen served as Chairman of the Altar Guild and St. Nicholas Guild at St. Paul’s Cathedral. She served on the board at St. Simeon’s Episcopal Home in Tulsa. Helen and Dan were founding members of Canterbury Retirement Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Dan D. Stuart; her son Charles “Chuck” Franklin Stuart; parents Charley and Nell Holman; sisters Edna Gaines, Frances Ausmus, Thelma Blades, Imogene Wendt, and Marie Wake; and brother Charles Holman Jr.. She is survived by her son Dan D. Stuart and his wife Carolyn of Oklahoma City and her daughter Dianne Neill and her husband Adron of Athens, Texas. She is also survived by three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two nieces, Linda Reich and Barty Shipp of Idabel. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, 127 NW 7th Street, Oklahoma City, OK at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 13, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral or Physicians Choice Hospice.
