Gordon Wilson Allison, 88, of Oklahoma City, OK went to be with the Lord Thurs. Feb. 5, 2015 in the hospital surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather known to his grandchildren as “Daddy G.” He was born December 30, 1926 to W.L. and Ida Ward Allison in Scott, AR. He graduated from Morris High School in England , AR as class President in 1944. He then served in World War II in the Merchant Marines on a T-2 Tanker sailing the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red Sea and Persian Gulf transporting oil and gas to Europe. He was honorably discharged in July 1946. After returning home from the war, Gordon married Margaret Jane Walker and began farming in Arkansas. He and Margaret won Farm Family of the Year for Jefferson County in 1957.
In 1958 Gordon entered the insurance industry as a producer and worked his way into management. He spent 28 years as a corporate officer of several public companies including the positions of Executive Vice President and later President and CEO of the Midwest National Life Insurance Co. of Springfield, MO. In 1972 he moved his family to Oklahoma City and founded American Trustee Life Insurance Co. where he worked as Chairman and CEO. Gordon enjoyed many achievements and civic duties. He served as a Trustee of the Executive Committee of Oklahoma City University, member of the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Independent College Foundation, Chairman of the Finance Committee and Board of Directors of Village United Methodist Church, member of the Board of Directors of Mid-Central BanCorp. of Warsaw, MO and President of the Association of Oklahoma Life Insurance Companies.
Gordon enjoyed travelling with his family taking numerous vacations. He loved hunting and fishing with his sons, daughter and nephews on their family ranch in Cross Timbers, MO where he served as the honorary cook. Gordon is preceded in death by his parents and son Gordon Walker Allison. He is survived by his wife, son William Allison, daughter Jane Wight, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10th at Village United Methodist Church at 2501 West Britton Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73120 with reception following. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
Mr. Allison will be interred at Rivermont Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 11th in Springfield, MO.
